Ian Brass serves as Global Marketing Director (Petrochemicals) and Commercial Development Manager (Greenhouse Gases) for Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (APCI).

Mr. Brass joined APCI in 1981. Within APCI, his activities have included technology development, commercial development, marketing and planning across diverse technical fields including fluorine chemistry, membrane separations, adsorption, polymer science and gasification.

In his present position, he is charged with identification of the developing needs of APCI’s customers in the petrochemicals industry, while guiding the Company’s efforts to serve those needs effectively.  A particular focus is the assessment of gasification-based and competing processes. As Commercial Development Manager - Greenhouse Gases, he is charged with bringing APCI’s proprietary technology for CO2 capture from pilot scale to demonstration and, ultimately, to full-scale exploitation.

Mr. Brass received a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen.

Mr. Brass is a Member of the UK Royal Society of Chemistry and is a Chartered Chemist. He is also a Director of the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Association.

He is a co-author of Organofluorine chemistry: principles and commercial applications.
